Each market day, beloved, local pre-school teacher, Judy Witmer, organizes a children’s table with a carefully designed activity for the youngest members of our community. Judy develops hands-on activities to help educate children about a variety subjects all related to food and farming. Adults learn something too! Recently Judy reported that 5 adults told her they had never realized than sunflower seeds come from the sunflower itself.
Activities range from planting sunflowers, making compost, to pressing apples to make cider. Check out the 2012 MIFM Calendar to find out what Judy has planned for the 2012 season!

The Mercer Island Farmers Market and the entire community are lucky to have such a dedicated volunteer, so interested in helping to teach our children.
