Partnerships

City of Mercer Island  has supported the Mercer Island Farmers Market since communiMIFMsinksty volunteers came together in 2007 to organize the market.  The City has provided support for logistical planning, right-of-way permits, signage and market day street closures.  In 2013, the City thrilled MIFM by installing a completely upgraded hot water and sink system to support the needs of the vendors. Thank you City Council and Maintenance Department!

Volunteers for Setting Up and Taking Down the
Market Equipment:
As a community market, MIFM sets up a lot of equipment to provide information, hospitality, children’s activities and music.  We are so fortunate to have three great organizations to work with. Thanks so much VOICE, NCL & MIHS Key Club! (If you or your organization are interested in volunteering please contact the Volunteer Coordinator.)

  • Staging 1VOICE: VOICE (Volunteer Outreach in Communities Everywhere ) a program of the City Youth & Family Services Department provides organized volunteer opportunities to Mercer Island middle and high-school age youth.
  • National Charity League (NCL): The Evergreen Chapter of the National Charity League is a philanthropic organization that fosters mother-daughter relationships and is committed to community service.  Mothers & daughters volunteer together.
  • Mercer Island High School Key Club:  The Mercer Island High School Key Club has come to the rescue of MIFM in September and October when fewer volunteers are available to help.  Key Clubs are supported by Kiwanis and perform acts of service in their communities and learn leadership skills.

Parking:  What would a farmers market do without parking? MIFM is very fortunate to have two great business partners who permit MIFM to park in their lots on Sunday during the market season. Thank you for providing this invaluable resource!

  • FarmersInsuranceFarmers New World Life Insurance: Farmers provides access to two floors of parking for our shoppers and vendors in their lot running along S.E. 77th Ave.
  • Gull Industries – (owner ‘Rite AID’ Parking Lot): Gull Industries permits parking in one row for vendors (selected by MIFM), seniors and those with disabled parking permits.
